Derby City Engineering and Inspection (DCEI) provides metallurgical and welding engineering and non-destructive testing (NDT) inspection services to clients in a wide range of industries. These clients represent plastic, chemical, paper, fabrication, construction, manufacturing, utility, and insurance industries. Our goal is to provide the best metallurgical engineering and testing and inspection services available to meet industry’s ever-increasing demand for quality and safety. Determining the root cause of a failure allows for design changes to prevent future problems.   While DCEI performs all types of inspections, Process Safety Management (PSM) inspection is our specialty. DCEI has conducted extensive PSM inspections and PSM Program Management, utilizing the UltraPIPE program at various chemical plants. As part of the PSM Management, we provide the client with lists of equipment and piping due for inspection on a monthly basis and for coming years for budgeting purposes.   All our inspections are conducted under the direction of DCEI’s owner and Professional Engineer, James Bennett. Bennett has a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Metallurgical Engineering with over 30 years experience in the metallurgical and welding fields. Bennett uses this experience to evaluate the severity of any defects or problems found by our inspections and recommends repair procedures and materials.   DCEI’s highly qualified technicians are certified to SNT-TC-1A guidelines by our ASNT Level III inspector and have the expertise and experience to meet any inspection need. Experienced AutoCAD technicians provide 2D and 3D modeling using AutoCAD Release 2000. DCEI maintains an independent laboratory in its Louisville, Kentucky facility. This laboratory includes mounting and polishing equipment for metallographic samples, hardness testing, metallograph, tensile machines, and a machine shop for test coupon preparation in addition to full service NDT capabilities with mobile darkroom.
